LightingEurope shares our heartfelt condolences for the passing of Lou. Lou was heavily involved in CELMA, one of our predecessor organisations, from the beginning and passionately believed in the importance of the lighting industry being involved in the European regulatory arena. He would argue his viewpoint enthusiastically, normally won the point but would accept other opinions and decisions with good grace and humour. He initiated the drive to shift from a product to a system view to promote lighting controls and understood that the industry should not only react to the European Commission but should also educate the European Commission, for example through the CELMA guide on the importance of lighting which he was deeply involved in producing. As in all things he was whole-hearted in his involvement and had an ability to carry people along with his enthusiasm. He is fondly remembered as a valuable colleague and friend by the members of LightingEurope and will be sadly missed.
